Game Hire at Cloth Hall Court, Leeds
Cloth Hall Court is a conference venue rather than a party venue, and that shapes how entertainment fits into a day here. Most events are conferences, training days, away-days and hybrid sessions, running across a handful of rooms with breaks in between. The games aren't the main event; they're what fills the gaps and gets people talking to each other. Fun Pro supplies interactive games and entertainment into events at Cloth Hall Court. We don't hire out the venue, which is managed by the University of Leeds' conferences and events team.
We're based in Coventry, roughly 120 miles down the M1, and we've been supplying corporate events since 2009. Delivery, setup and collection come as standard.
About Cloth Hall Court as an Events Venue
Cloth Hall Court sits on Quebec Street, a two-minute walk from Leeds railway station, which makes it one of the most convenient venues in the city for attendees arriving by train. The Grade II listed building was originally built for the trade of Yorkshire broadcloths, and the room names still nod to that history.
It's a dedicated conference venue with ten rooms across four floors, taking up to 300 attendees, refurbished with hybrid-capable AV in three of the suites. Day attendee rates start at £49 including VAT, all floors are reached by accessible lifts, and it holds MIA accreditation and a Green Tourism Gold award.
One detail that matters more than any other for our purposes: there's no car parking on site at all. More on that below.
Spaces at Cloth Hall Court and the Games That Suit Them
Merchants Hall
If you're putting games anywhere in this building, Merchants Hall is usually the answer. It's the shared catering space during the day and can be hired exclusively for evening receptions, taking 250 for a reception or 80 for dinner. It has an industrial look, a built-in PA and its own separate catering area. Because it's where people already gather at break times, entertainment lands naturally here rather than needing to be sought out. Shuffleboard and other pub games, a Prize Wheel or a photo booth all work well in a room like this.
Herringbone and Tweed
Herringbone is the largest room at 300 theatre-style, 200 cabaret or 140 in a U-shape, with auto-tracking cameras for hybrid sessions. Tweed takes 180 theatre-style or around 100 cabaret. Both are working conference rooms with AV built in, so games generally don't belong inside them during sessions. Where they do come into their own is at the end of the day: if Herringbone is being turned around for a drinks reception or a team activity, there's floor space for something more substantial once the seating comes out. Tell us if that's the plan and we'll time delivery around the turnaround.
Denim, Wool and Cotton
The mid-sized rooms handle 40 to 84 people depending on layout, and are mostly used for breakouts and smaller sessions. Space here is genuinely limited once seating is in, so a compact single game is about the ceiling. The Batak Lite or Plinko would fit; anything larger wouldn't. In most cases it makes more sense to concentrate the entertainment in Merchants Hall and let breakout groups come to it.
Seamstress, Tailors and Bobbin
These are the executive boardrooms, seating 18 to 20. They're not games spaces and we wouldn't pretend otherwise. If your day includes boardroom sessions, treat them as the working part of the schedule and put the entertainment where the breaks happen.
What Fun Pro Handles, and What We Don't
What we handle:
- Delivering the games to Quebec Street on your event date and getting them to the right floor
- Setting up, testing and safety-checking ahead of your attendees
- Staffing the games during the event
- Collecting at the agreed time afterwards
What we don't handle:
- Venue hire, room allocation or floor plans, which the University of Leeds team manages
- Catering, day delegate packages or AV
- Parking for you or your attendees, since the venue has none
- Storage between days, unless agreed with the venue in advance
Planning Entertainment for a Cloth Hall Court Event
The parking situation is the thing to sort first. Cloth Hall Court has no on-site car park, and it sits on a city-centre street a couple of minutes from the station. That means our delivery needs a specific unloading window agreed with the venue rather than a vehicle sitting outside all morning. It's entirely workable, and we do it regularly, but it needs to be arranged rather than assumed. Let us know your access times as soon as the venue confirms them.
The building's four floors are all served by accessible lifts, so getting equipment to the right room isn't a problem, though lift dimensions cap what we can bring upstairs. Ground-floor spaces are simpler. Share your room allocation and we'll be straight with you about what fits where.
Because most events here are working days rather than parties, it's worth thinking about when the games actually get used. A couple of well-chosen items in Merchants Hall over a long lunch break will get more use than a large setup in a room people only enter for sessions.
Lead times are four to six weeks for busy periods, or around two weeks for simpler bookings. Branded games need longer for design and print.
Getting Games Delivered to Cloth Hall Court
Coventry to Leeds is around 120 miles up the M1. Delivery, setup and collection are all included in your quote, including the extra coordination a city-centre site needs.
On the day we work to whatever unloading window the venue has agreed, get everything in and set up before attendees arrive, and stay with the games through the event. Our safety and insurance page has our PAT testing and public liability details, which the venue will want as part of their supplier process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Fun Pro hire out Cloth Hall Court?
No. Cloth Hall Court is booked through the University of Leeds conferences and events team. We supply the games that go into the space you've booked.
Where should the games go at Cloth Hall Court?
Merchants Hall is usually the best spot, since it's the shared catering and reception space where people gather during breaks. The conference rooms work for evening turnarounds but are generally too full during sessions.
Is delivery difficult with no on-site parking?
It needs planning rather than being difficult. We agree on an unloading window with the venue in advance and work to it as much as possible. Just pass on your access times once they're confirmed.
Can you get games up to the higher floors?
Yes, in most cases. All four floors have accessible lifts, though lift dimensions limit the larger items. Tell us your room and we'll confirm what will fit.
How far in advance should I book?
Four to six weeks during busy periods, or around two weeks for smaller bookings. Branding needs extra lead time.
Are the games suitable for a mixed group?
Yes. We'll ask about who's attending and suggest a mix, including lower-intensity options that anyone can join in with regardless of age or ability.
