Game Hire at Kingsholm Stadium, Gloucester
Most events at Kingsholm are working events: a conference, an away-day, a team offsite that runs from breakfast through to late afternoon. Somewhere in there, people need a break from sitting down. Fun Pro supplies interactive games, arcade machines and photo booths into events happening at the stadium, so the gap between sessions has something in it. We don't hire out the venue; that side is managed by Kingsholm's own events team. Our job starts once your room is confirmed.
We're a family-run business, have been since 2009, and we're based in Coventry, around 70 miles from Gloucester. Kingsholm is a venue we know well, and it's an easy enough journey down the M5 for our team.
About Kingsholm Stadium as an Events Venue
Kingsholm sits on Kingsholm Road, a 15-minute walk or five-minute drive from Gloucester train station, which puts it closer to the city centre than most stadium venues manage. The ground has been home to Gloucester Rugby since 1891 and holds 16,115 on a matchday.
For events, there are more than 20 spaces, ranging from eight-person boxes up to rooms holding 500. The venue works largely on day rates, which start from £32.95 plus VAT, with room hire from £150 plus VAT depending on the space. There's parking for up to 100 vehicles with more available on request, four electric charging points, and lift access throughout the main stand.
Bookings go through Kingsholm's events team directly.
Spaces at Kingsholm and the Games That Suit Them
Kingsholm has a wider spread of room sizes than most venues its size, and the practical differences between them matter more than usual.
The Emerge Digital Captain's Lounge
The Captain's Lounge holds up to 400 depending on layout and sits on the third floor with views over the pitch and out towards the Malvern Hills. There's a big screen installed, and the room flexes between conference, theatre and dining setups. It's the space most festive parties and awards evenings end up in, so it suits entertainment with a bit of presence: racing simulators, retro arcade machines and photo booths all hold a crowd well here.
The Stowford Press Clubhouse and The Training Centre
These are the two spaces built for scale. The Stowford Press Clubhouse takes over 450 attendees and is set up for exhibitions, with room for stalls and product displays. Being on the ground floor, it's also the easiest space in the building to load into.
The Training Centre is the largest room at up to 500, with an adjacent indoor changing room that some groups use for a rugby-themed element. Both suit games that pull people in from a distance: Grab A Grand, the Ballnado and Batak Pro all do that job, and can be branded for exhibition stands.
The Chairman's Club, 1873 Bistro & Lounge and The Lion's Den
The Chairman's Club takes 60 guests, or 40 for private dining, and has a club-room feel with Chesterfields and an electric fire. The 1873 Bistro seats up to 50 with a large interactive TV and its own serving point.
The Lion's Den, once the changing room and gym and the oldest building on the site, now works as a bar space for birthdays, team-building days and celebrations of life. Rooms at this size want games that add atmosphere without taking over: shuffleboard and other pub games, Plinko and a Prize Wheel all fit.
Premium Boxes, Executive Boxes and the Pitch
The three premium boxes, the Chairman's Box, Queensholm Suite and Tump Suite, each hold up to 16, and the standard executive boxes take eight. Honestly, these are too tight for most of our equipment. If your day is running across several boxes, the better approach is usually to put one or two games in a shared lounge that everyone passes through, rather than trying to fit something into each room. Pitch hire is also available for tag rugby away-days, and if you're combining that with entertainment, weather cover is the thing to sort first.
What Fun Pro Handles, and What We Don't
What we handle:
- Bringing the games to Kingsholm on your event date and getting them into your room
- Setting up, testing and safety-checking before your attendees arrive
- Staffing the games throughout, with our own team present rather than sub-contractors
- Packing down and collecting at the time you've agreed
What we don't handle:
- Venue hire, room allocation or floor plans, which Kingsholm's events team looks after
- Catering, day delegate packages, bar service or AV
- Pitch hire and tag rugby sessions, which are arranged through the stadium
- Storing equipment on site between event days, unless it's agreed in advance
Planning Entertainment for a Kingsholm Event
The single most useful thing to check early at Kingsholm is which floor you're on. The Captain's Lounge and The Blindside are both on the third floor, and while there's lift access throughout the main stand, larger items like racing simulators need the dimensions of the lift confirmed before we commit to them.
Ground-floor spaces such as the Stowford Press Clubhouse are far more forgiving, and we can bring almost anything into those. Tell us your room and we'll be straight with you about what's realistic.
Parking is the other practical point. With around 100 spaces on site, unloading windows are worth agreeing in advance with the events team, particularly if your attendees are arriving at the same time. Additional parking can sometimes be arranged on request.
The rugby calendar shapes access too. Gloucester Rugby's season runs through most of the year, and the stadium also hosts concerts in the close season, so your events contact will be best placed to tell you when loading is possible.
For lead times, four to six weeks gives you the widest choice during busy periods, including Christmas parties and the run-up to year end. Simpler bookings can often be turned around in about two weeks.
Kingsholm has curb access in the car park, accessible lifts and step-free routes into the main stand, so it's a venue where a mixed group can move around comfortably. It's worth choosing games with that in mind. Roll & Bowl and Plinko are easy for anyone to join in with, and pair well with something more energetic for the people who want it.
Getting Games Delivered to Kingsholm Stadium
Our base is in Coventry, roughly 70 miles from Gloucester via the M5. Delivery, setup and collection are included in every quote, so the logistics don't come as a separate line.
On the day, we'll coordinate access with the events team around your room, your floor and your timings. For exhibitions in the Stowford Press Clubhouse we'll usually arrive earlier, since stand layouts always take longer to settle than people expect.
You can read more about how we work on our safety and insurance page, which covers our PAT testing and public liability cover, and our testimonials page has feedback from corporate clients across the UK.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Fun Pro hire out Kingsholm Stadium?
No. Kingsholm is booked through the stadium's own events team. We supply the games and interactive entertainment that go into whichever space you've booked.
Which rooms at Kingsholm do you supply games to?
All the main event spaces, including the Captain's Lounge, the Stowford Press Clubhouse, the Training Centre, the Chairman's Club, the 1873 Bistro and the Lion's Den. The premium and executive boxes are generally too small for our equipment, so we'd suggest siting games in a shared space instead.
Can you get games up to the third-floor spaces?
In most cases, yes. There's lift access throughout the main stand, though larger items need the lift dimensions checked first. Let us know your room when you enquire and we'll confirm what will and won't fit.
Can you supply games for exhibitions in the Stowford Press Clubhouse?
Yes, and it's one of the better exhibition spaces we work in locally. Being on the ground floor makes access straightforward, and footfall games like Grab A Grand and the Prize Crane do well among stands.
How far in advance should I book game hire for a Kingsholm event?
Four to six weeks is comfortable in busy periods. Around two weeks is often enough for smaller bookings, though branded games need extra lead time for design and print.
Are your games suitable for a mixed group?
Yes. We'll ask about the mix of people attending and recommend a spread of options, so there's something for everyone regardless of age, ability or how competitive they're feeling. Got a date at Kingsholm? Get in touch with your room, attendee numbers and timings, and we'll talk through what works in the space.
