7 Ways To Show Your Staff Appreciation | Fun Pro UK

30 January 19 - 7 ways to show your staff some love!

February is known as the month of love, with February 14th, Valentine's day, seen as a chance to show your partner how much you love them. The greeting card companies do a roaring trade, the florists sell huge numbers of flowers, and restaurants are all booked up by couples celebrating their relationship.

Many of us however, spend more time at work than we do with our partners. What are you doing as a company to show your employees some love? We think February, well any time of the year really, is a great time to show some love to your employees for their commitment and hard work. There are hundreds of ways that you can show your staff how much you appreciate them but here are a few of our favourites:

  1. Thank you notes, cards and little gifts of appreciation. It doesn't have to cost a lot but the impact that it will have on your staff in terms of morale can be huge.
  2. Free food. Throw a morning or afternoon tea with cakes, or perhaps order in some pizza for lunch. Gatherings like these can help bring the office together and make your staff feel appreciated.
  3. Celebrating employee personal life events such as birthdays, weddings & new babies. Buy a cake, throw a small party, buy a card and gift. Often this is done by other staff and not management. It shows your staff that you see them as people and not just employees.
  4. Upgrading the break out room. Staff need a space where they can get away from it all, switch off and just chill. Does your breakout room do this, or could you be doing more? Ask your staff what they'd like to see in the breakout room? You could add books, a gaming console, or hire a game such as our lights out game.
  5. Giving out awards. Recognise staff, team and department achievements with certificates, trophies and awards. If you have the funds you can also have an awards night where everyone has the chance to dress up and feel special.
  6. Team building activities. Invest in your staff with an offsite morning, afternoon or whole day team building. Not only will it boost morale, but it will also produce more cohesive and productive teams. You could run it through your training department if you have one or you could bring in an external company to help.
  7. Host a company event to celebrate Christmas, end of financial year or just to say thank you. This can be a small or big event depending on your budget. Go out for dinner at a restaurant, go paint balling or hire a conference room at a swish hotel with a photo booth to capture the fun. The list is endless.
